Our Mission

Our mission at Abandoned & Historic Cemeteries of Montague County, Texas, is to preserve our cemeteries' legacy. Over time many of these abandoned cemeteries may be erased from our landscape and forgotten entirely. By identifying today using GPS, photographs, and other documents—we hope that it may prevent our county's cemeteries and its pioneer citizens' memory from being lost forever. In addition to this website, we are also working on a cemetery book/binder project that will include additional information that we have collected, as well as photos and other documents. These binders of information will be available for viewing at the Old Jail in Montague, Texas and the Tales-N-Trails Museum in Nocona, Texas.
